Nollywood Christmas children in need story will warm hearts of film-lovers

Directed by award-winning Nollywood director and producer Rhoda Wilson, “The Christmas Gift” is a family drama that tells the story of Mother Teresa, a new foster mother who offers to take in children for the Christmas holidays, but gets more than she bargained for when social services sends child after troubled child to her doorstep.

Set in London, the story unfolds when Mother Teresa’s kind heart prompts her to sign on to host foster children over the Christmas holidays. She soon realises just how many needy children there are in the UK over this time.

“The Christmas Gift” premiered on 24 November 2018 at the Odeon Cinema Surrey Quays and in aid of the charitable organisations below. Due to popular demand there are now two more upcoming shows at the end of this month.

Beautiful Onyinye Foundation (UK based): Works in 4 different orphanages across the state (Imo, Lagos, Abuja, Oyo) by carrying outreaches program to infused independent learning opportunities such as cooking, arts & crafts, and outdoor sports) on a seasonal basis (Christmas, Easter, Valentines, Independence and children’s day).

Miss Adanma Pageant International & 3Productions & Events (UK based): The Miss Adanma Pageant International- Beauty with a Purpose- uses beauty to promote cultural identity and to fight against sexual exploitation of young people. Our Queens have an obligation to use their position and influence not only to promote the brand as ambassadors, but also to raise awareness of the plight of the less privileged in society especially widows, orphans and the physically and mentally challenged.

Girl Child Network Worldwide (UK & Zimbabwe based): Fills in a very critical void in support for girls by providing direct general support funds to individual girls in communities where they lack the financial means to reach their potential such as mall grants to help return to education.

The Fostering Network (UK based): Is the UK’s leading fostering charity. An essential network for fostering, bringing together everyone who is involved in the lives of fostered children. The network champion fostering and seek to create vital change so that foster care is the very best it can be.

This is Rhoda Wilson’s second independently produced Christmas film, the first being Miracles of the Christmas Angels, released in 2017. In addition Rhoda has created and produced successful TV series such as Housewives & Girlfriends, The Rhoda Wilson Show and many more. She says, “I believe I can make a difference because there is a need in the market and I have incredible passion. I am committed to making this happen.”
