A married couple, they met whilst singing in the Birmingham Town Hall Gospel Choir, the inaugural BBC Gospel Choir of the Year 2013 winners. Clifford and Jacqueline individually have sung with myriad groups, bands, choirs and ensembles. Clifford and Jacqueline decided to produce an EP, entitled ‘Thank You’ during the Covid-19 lockdown to simply thank God for all he’s done despite the hardships of lockdown.
Their second EP of the year, “No More Pain‘” is a track that Jacqueline wrote which was birthed from a prophecy that their pastor gave to the church to encourage them not to focus on their fear or pain but to trust God during the pandemic and support each other. They hope this will uplift, strengthen and encourage people during these tough times and hold on to God’s unchanging love for us. Clifford wrote, ‘He Will See You Through’, the second track on the EP.
Clifford Martin sang on the original recording of the hit single, ‘Something Inside So Strong’ with Labi Siffre back in 1984. Clifford also sang with one of the first UK gospel choirs, The Highgate Gospel Choir who toured Europe proclaiming God’s gospel.
Jacqueline Ffrench-Martin, sang briefly with the Majestics Choir another of the first UK gospel choirs, with Hugh Masekela, with Crystal Gospel Choir at the Camden Roundhouse, and more recently featured and soloed with Black Voices UK at their Aretha Franklin Tribute event.
