Brenique, born Temitope Adams, is a UK-based Nigerian singer and songwriter whose sound is soulful, warm, and calming. Rooted in authenticity and emotional depth, her music creates a safe, reflective space where peace, joy, love, and hope gently unfold.
Her musical journey began at the age of eight when her aunt first recognised her gift. Raised in a music-filled home, Brenique grew up listening to timeless icons such as Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. During her teenage years, she gravitated deeply toward gospel music, drawing inspiration from artists like Kierra Sheard, J Moss, and Kim Burrell. These influences helped shape both her spiritual foundation and her expressive, soulful sound. As her artistry evolved, contemporary influences including Tori Kelly, India Arie, and Madison Ryan Ward, alongside strong elements of R&B and neo-soul, further refined her musical direction.
Learning to play the guitar marked a pivotal moment in her creative development and allowed her to explore and define her sound more intentionally. In 2020, Brenique began sharing song covers online and quickly gained traction as several performances went viral, introducing her to a growing global audience. This momentum led to the release of her debut single, Fearless, in 2021, a bold declaration of faith, authenticity, and self-belief that officially launched her professional music career.
In 2022, she created Sessions with Brenique, a signature creative platform designed not only to showcase her music but also to spotlight and collaborate with other creatives across various disciplines. The most recent session took place in Leeds on November 22nd, 2025, where she performed original songs and covers while collaborating with visual artists and spoken-word performers. This experience further reflected her passion for community and artistic expression.
Although Brenique’s official discography remains intentionally selective, her journey has been one of steady growth. In 2023, she briefly stepped away from music to pursue a master’s degree in international business in the UK. This season of personal and academic development has since fueled a renewed creative focus. She is currently working on unreleased projects and experimenting with producers in both Nigeria and the UK, using this exploratory phase to further define and strengthen her artistic identity.
At the heart of Brenique’s music are themes of love, peace, joy, and hope. Her sound is deeply personal and expressive, shaped by her faith, lived experiences, and the artists who inspire her. She hopes her music allows listeners to feel seen, emotionally held, and safe, whether they are joyful, discouraged, reflective, or searching for hope.
While she is widely known for her soulful covers, Brenique is intentionally stepping into her identity as a recording artist with a clear and original voice. She has performed at notable events including Made to Shine, pioneered by Bez Idakula, as well as church gatherings, Love Vibes by Olujimi Adeboye, and the Afroliterary Fashion Concert by Sinmirella. Her work has also received online press recognition, including a feature by Tribune Online.
On January 2nd, 2026, Brenique released her new single Gratitude, a heartfelt song born from thanksgiving and deep reflection on her personal and spiritual journey. Opening the year with a spirit of appreciation, the track serves as a refreshing reminder of grace, growth, and God’s faithfulness. Alongside this release, she continues to work on an upcoming EP that promises to showcase her evolving sound, emotional depth, and artistic maturity.
As her journey continues, Brenique draws her greatest inspiration from God, supported by the love of her family and close community. Fans can expect more music, deeper storytelling, sonic experimentation, and meaningful collaborations as she enters this exciting new chapter rooted in purpose, creativity, and soulful expression.
