Benjamin Haycock

Benjamin Haycock blends melodic, percussive and fingerstyle guitar with honest, personal and accomplished lyricism. He laces this with raw, emotive and powerful singing vocals and incredibly tight rap flows to match. This is all interwoven to create a truly unique sound with strong character that derives from his engrossing stories about growing up in inner city Birmingham, mixed with the coastal tones of his 20s home, Devon.

Starting out, Benjamin was the songwriting front man to a successful eclectic band that performed at the likes of the 02 Academy and the Institute in Birmingham, which included instrumentation from ‘Little Comets’ drummer Nathan Greene. In 2018, he released his debut solo acoustic EP called ‘Time’s Transgressions’. Off the back of this, he was announced as one of ‘Fender Undiscovered Artists of the Year’.

Benjamin then appeared on ‘The Voice UK’ and astounded the coaches by doing an emotional rendition of his original song ‘Restlessness’ that he wrote as a letter to his late Father. Suffice to say, all four coaches turned around. He subsequently released ‘Restlessness’ as a single, which topped the iTunes singer-songwriter charts in five countries. He followed up this by releasing his second EP ‘Enigma’s Quay’, which had similar success.

During this period, Benjamin partnered with Australian guitar company ‘Maton’ and became one of their prestigious artists and global ambassadors. Names on their roster include the likes of John Butler, Tash Sultana, Josh Homme, Tommy Emmanuel, Keith Urban and Neil Finn.

Benjamin finished the year with his single ‘Force for Nature’ which he released in collaboration with The Tree Council’s environmental campaign ‘Be a Force for Nature’. The music video premiered to over 1,000 schools, with the song later being featured by the prestigious NOTION. Off the back of this, Benjamin was commissioned to produce a musical composition for a film which was displayed at the COP26 Climate conference in Glasgow.

He has since gone on to co-develop the installation ‘Voices for Nature’ in collaboration with the charity and award winning art collective SquidSoup, as well as compose/produce the soundscape that has been exhibited at the Hampton Court Palace, The NEC and Kew Gardens. After touring with this across the country, he was asked to perform and lead workshops at 10 Downing Street.

In the subsequent years, Benjamin released two singles and music videos ‘Homeless Winters’ and ‘Pupil’s War’. The videos were filmed/directed by Jonathan Pears, who was fresh off the set working on the box office film ‘KANDAHAR’ with Gerrard Butler. In 2025, he has just released his new single ‘Finding Hope’.
