Elle Limebear lives in Brighton by the sea with her husband and two little boys. She loves the church, loves the Lord, and is a worship leader, singer and songwriter. As the eldest child of many siblings in a musical family, Elle has a heart for this generation, and is thrilled to have just released her new album, “Welcome to the Bloodline”.
“Welcome to the Bloodline” is a labour of love that Elle has been carefully creating since lockdown in 2020. Elle shared that having started working on the album during pregnancy and now as a mother, she had to consider: What am I passing down my bloodline? This led to the beautiful revelation that actually it is up to us, what we let go of and what we welcome into our bloodline.
“This album really has such themes of family, of faithfulness and goodness, of breakthrough and freedom. And that’s honestly what’s been going on in my life. That’s what he’s been doing in my life. And so these songs are of breakthrough.”
The process of creating this album with the amazing Troy Miller as producer, was “such a beautiful experience” for Elle. Holistically, this album is themed around family, and the process of creating it was too. Her brother played drums and guitar on the project, her friends came to do vocals, and she sometimes had her children in the room.
“It was this real family,” says Elle. “After doing takes at lunchtime, we’d go to Troy’s family home, which was next door to the studio, and we’d eat together or make a cup of tea. The songs talk about being round the table and the album artwork is around the table, and that’s what this album is. It’s like an invitation into the biggest family you could ever be welcomed in, which is the family of God, the most extravagant family all around the world.”
“Recording Bloodline with my actual bloodline, that’s a memory that I’ll never forget and truly treasure.”
These 10 songs on the albums contain such different stories and revelations, but Elle believes with her whole heart the truth in every single one of them.
So, what should we take away from this album? Elle shares:
In a nutshell: following Jesus is the best decision you can make for your bloodline, and allows you to be welcomed into his.
Elle went on to share how much of an impact motherhood had on writing this album, and consequently why this is the message she wants people to take from this album.
When starting this album while pregnant, Elle went through a shift in her thinking. Realising her bloodline would now carry on made her consider: “What do I want them to sing? What do I want them to know about God? What do I want them to know about his faithfulness or who he is or what he’s done in their mum’s life, you know?”
That is where the heartfelt lyrics of the songs on this album came from. Elle hopes that she will be singing these songs over them their whole lives, “even when they’re old and grey”.
So, what’s Elle doing now the album is out?
“Since the album came out, I’ve been at the park everyday with my boys“:
If you want to see evidence of the beauty in this time of rest, Elle later shared on her Instagram a photo which demonstrates the joy of being part of a family:
