Battle of Harmonies Heats Up at UGCY 2025
The stage is set, the voices are primed, and the anticipation is palpable as the 13th Annual University Gospel Choir of the Year (UGCY) competition prepares to welcome the UK’s most talented student gospel choirs for an evening of exhilarating praise and worship. Taking place on Saturday, 22nd March 2025, in London, this much-anticipated event will see ten outstanding choirs raise their voices in harmony, vying for the coveted title.
A Celebration of Gospel Excellence
Founded in 2011 by Lorraine Wright MBE and inspired by the beloved gospel-infused film Sister Act, UGCY has become a beacon of musical excellence within the UK’s university community. This unique competition provides an opportunity for students to showcase their faith and artistry before esteemed gospel music judges and an enthusiastic, interactive audience.
This year, UGCY partners with AStepFWD, a dynamic multi-media platform known for its commitment to uplifting Christian artistry. Now in its tenth year, AStepFWD is the force behind the UK Christian Charts, the only national independent Christian music ranking system. It also spearheads other influential initiatives such as the iMPACT Conference for creatives, the Artist Relief Fund, the Poets in Autumn World Tour, and the annual StepFWD Awards, among others.
