Self-confessed wayfarer singer-songwriter Ellyn Oliver has now released her latest single ‘Still Working Through’. Like many during the lockdown, Ellyn found herself stuck, staring at the monotonous four walls of her tenement flat in Glasgow instead of the wide open roads of Scotland or cheering faces of the audiences that she was starting to get used to in the exciting early stages of her career. A source of joy and sanctuary to the mental struggle was her daily walks around the local streets. Watching the lush growth around her bloom and fade, her imagination was awakened to remind her that the world keeps turning, and that God is still working despite her circumstances.
Aberdeenshire-born, now based in Glasgow, Ellyn’s unique style crosses over a number of genres; gospel, neo-soul, pop, blues, folk, and jazz. After cutting her teeth as part of a number of notable Scottish worship music projects over the last 8 years, Ellyn released her awaited debut EP, “Arms Wide Open” in August 2019 to much critical acclaim. In January 2020 at Celtic Connections in Glasgow, Ellyn won the Danny Kyle Open Stage. During lockdown, Ellyn has continued to work as worship leader for her church, entertain her neighbours out the window, stage live streams, and has released the single ‘Rest and be Still’, Christmas EP, ‘Ring the Bells’ and had a number of plays on BBC Radio Scotland.
