UK gospel rapper Si Knightly takes on drill in new single ‘Broken Cisterns’

Following the success of his 2021 debut EP “The Third Day” and recent cinematic worship track,Who Am I, Si Knightly shows there is no limit to his versatility as a rapper in his exciting new drill single, ‘Broken Cisterns’.

The track is Biblically inspired by the history of Israel’s relationship with God, and rooted in the famous metaphor from Old Testament prophet Jeremiah. Broken Cisterns explores and expounds the theme of idolatry, and God’s faithfulness to his repentant people, in the face of it. In his signature style, Si Knightly takes listeners on a compelling journey through the track, engaging them with his own faith story. His personal lyrics expose the futility of idolatry from Si’s own experience, and testify to the unfailing grace of God, through the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Challenging, yet hopeful, the memorable chorus continually invites the listener into the song, as it repeatedly considers the question, “Why do I drink from Broken Cisterns?” Dropped on a drill beat composed by widely respected UK producer Kazza, and set to 142BPM, Broken Cisterns boasts stripped back electronic melodies and characteristic drums and bassline, reflecting Si Knightly’s eclectic musical style and influences. Si’s rich theological lyricism, his trademark multi-syllable rhyme schemes and artistic vulnerability come together to create a unique and unforgettable drill single.

Si Knightly is a rapper, spoken word artist and songwriter. He works full-time as an urban missionary team leader for London City Mission, sharing the good news of Jesus Christ with the least reached people in London. He serves on the leadership team of his local church, Redeemer Croydon.
