Top local footballer shares Christian faith

In a recent article from Bexhill Observer, LINVOY Primus, a former professional footballer with Portsmouth and joint founder of the Christian charity Faith and Football, is going to Bexhill next month.

A committed Christian with a gentle and inspirational manner, he has been invited to the town by Churches Together in Bexhill (CTIB).On Sunday, August 4 at 6pm he will talk about his career and his conversion to Christianity at an ecumenical gathering at the De La Warr Pavilion.

The Reverend Graham Holliday, chairman of CTIB, said: “At the conclusion of our summer hymn singing on the seafront, we have traditionally held a united churches service at the Pavilion, but unfortunately lost our regular date in July. “It was felt a fresh approach was needed and so this year we’re proposing to widen the appeal to local residents, as well as church congregations, by inviting Linvoy to be our guest speaker at a summer celebration.”

Mr Holliday hopes the informal new approach, which will feature a welcoming of clergy and local councillors rather than a procession, will help to attract families and younger people. He said: “Following a time of worship, we want to share visually all the different things CTIB are doing and then ask Linvoy to speak.” The evening is suitable for all ages.

With the lifestyle players lead these days it does seem hard to imagine a Christian footballer, but Jesus came for all and as a result there will be Christians in all professions.
