Sacrifices are something we should make with an open and willing heart. As David said in 1 Chronicles 21:24, “I will not take for the LORD what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing”
God sacrificed all that he had when Jesus died on the cross, forgiving us for our sins and giving us eternal life. This is the biggest and most selfless sacrifice known to mankind, so it’s only right we sacrifice too.
God is not expecting us to nail ourselves to a cross and die, but to offer back to him such as our praise, time, love and commitment. We will be tried and tested to see if we are willing to sacrifice, therefore putting God first. Not only must we be able to sacrifice, but to do so without expecting anything in return.
Not so easy after giving something up, but the end reward will be well worth it. What sacrifice are you making for your God?
