Not so long ago we attended a launch night at The Underbelly and were instantly immersed in a bubbling and creative environment with some truly amazing individuals. This was the night that singer Jasmin Jones stepped out and encouraged everyone to ‘share their gold’ at her Gold EP launch night.
Jasmin Jones was born in Australia and started moving internationally at four months old. New Zealand, Solomon Islands, England and Portugal have all been her countries of residence at one time or another.
Her musical journey started in 2001 in Portugal when she got a vision to start a band ‘Triplet’. The band released a single (‘Just the Way You Are’), two full length albums (‘A Fight For Your Heart’ and ‘Noise Noise Noise’) and two music videos (‘Eye 43‘ and ‘Like It’s Going Out of Fashion‘). Triplet toured in ten European countries, headlining festivals and inspiring others with their music. Jasmin grew as a musician and artist as Triplet gave her a perfect platform to grow, but in August of 2011 Triplet sadly came to an end.
In 2010 Jasmin began her solo project and recorded her first explorative album ‘Beyond the CLOUDS’. With the success of her music video and single ‘Lost in Rainbows’ it naturally led her to record the second album ‘Look to the Horizon’. While things were developing rapidly on the musical front, in 2011 Jasmin became the Portuguese Ambassador for Quicksilver Woman.
2012 saw Jasmin move back to Australia and release ‘Look to the Horizon’ highlighted by the leading single ‘Best Is To Come’ which garnered nation wide airplay across community radio. 2013 capitalised on the introduction to the Australian public by solid gigging across Sydney and Melbourne. During this time Jasmin won ‘Songs On Stage Sydney Singer Song Contest’ and reached the final of ‘Busking by the Beach’ in Narrabeen.
In the latter half of 2014, Jasmin recorded her first EP in Australia with producer ‘Nathan Eshman’ from the esteemed Music Entourage. The five tracker is scheduled for a 2015 release but the first single ‘Pepper Creek Farm’ is available to purchase and stream online via all good digital retailers.
Jasmin lists many influences, from rock bands, to folk, to pop; not only from other’s music but from nature, people, travel, love, spirituality and from the highs and lows of life.
This multi-dimensional creative internalisation was certainly on display at her launch night, which saw the mood nicely set by the uber talented Jami Hilton and the refreshing sounds of Wilderthorn. Jasmin later took to the stage with a well-rounded set that left the listeners captivatingly anchored in the moment and fully satisfied.
Jasmin told us “#SYG launch was a epic night of music, friends and laughs, it was great to be able to see the impact of #SYG on people and showcase my EP ‘Gold’.
She further explained the #SYG, “Sharing the gold thats in your heart is a vulnerable but joyous thing, exposing your deepest treasure to the world brings a new freedom to yourself and to whoever is ‘Gold’ to you”. My future will always include #SYG movement, its a great way to connect with people at concerts and to let them know that they are gold in Gods eyes.
Right now Jasmin is continuing with “The Story Tour” playing gigs and songwriting ahead of more recordings next year!
