Refreshing yet familiar single by Byron & Favour – ‘Brokenhearted’

UK Gospel group Byron & Favour, collectively bring hope to the world again with their new single, ‘Brokenhearted’. Released during the Covid-19 pandemic, this refreshing yet familiar sound rings truth and hope of something greater. Inspired by Psalm 56:8 ‘Brokenhearted’ was written by Byron Taylor, a singer/songwriter from Wolverhampton and is available on Spotify and iTunes.

We are faced with the most unprecedented times right now, and ‘Brokenhearted’ is like a balm to a world needing healing. It has everything you could want from a Gospel song; a comforting blend of harmonies, a lovely array of voices and a perfectly dreamy melody. It’s a track you may sing along to, even hearing it for the first time. Leading vocals are on-point, with Michonne’s rich tone contrasting Bianca’s uplifting chords, they really take you there!

Honorary member Destiny says “I’m so glad to see the release of Brokenhearted and hopefully others during such a crazy time, it’s what we need right now, that good, wholesome Gospel!”

Listen now, to hear how his inspirations have coloured his songwriting. Byron takes inspiration from those who are well-respected in the Gospel music industry. He says “Donald (Lawrence) & Luther (Vandross) really add romance to their music whether it be secular or gospel”. Other influences include Richard Smallwood, Kurt Carr & The Clark Sisters, Byron mentions, “all of these artists take their craft seriously. They produce a range of work both simple and complex, they’re very diverse…They force me to learn music and sharpen my ear”.
