Neuma, an artist from eastern Philadelphia and a Birmingham native now living in Prague recently released “Dual Citizen”; rightly presented as spiritual, intellectual hip-hop. This is the first project since his 2014’s ‘Wish It Was True‘, the artist had previously worked with GLMedia on their compilation ‘The Lift‘.
“…”Since we are instruments I’m the horn of the trumpet… In my chromosomes you will find poems…”
“Dual Citizen” features production from former Humble Beast artist Theory Hazit, Riz Ventura and Grammy Award Winner Wit Music. The album is also mixed by Braille, also of Humble Beast, with mastering by Sky Onion.
On the album the emcee talks of his upbringing, his involvement in art, coming to and struggles in his faith journey; with support features from R-Swift & JQ of Poor Galaxy (Czech rap group).
Asked about the meaning of the album, Neuma responded: “The experience of growing up between cultures. Being a Citizen of two nations but feeling native to neither of them. And then the realisation that my real citizenship is in the Kingdom of God…apart from that it’s the experience of growing up and the old passing away into the new. Death giving way to new life. There can be no resurrection without death. It is painful, but it gives rise to the new creature.”
