Noticeably the biggest name in the Christian hip hop sphere, Lecrae‘s been catching some flack. Lecrae who just signed a record deal with Columbia, leaving his Reach Records Independent home, has been very visible in the media lately with his appearances on radio platforms; The Breakfast Show and HOT 97.

In his interview with DJ Wade-O he addresses the criticism he’s been getting, the ‘rules’ of music in the Christians rap sphere and his upcoming album.

He talks of being called out by Datin of God Over Money Records, where Datin addresses his remarks and approach while on non-Christian platforms like his HOT 97 and Breakfast Show interviews.

He promises the new album to be palatable to all his fans but states:

“They feel like a lot of my albums post Rebel were more implicit than direct…..This record I don’t care, some songs are just about love and relationships, some songs are about stories of my life, and some songs are just explicitly how I feel…Its just me unfiltered.. you gon hear some stuff you never knew…”
