From Lamp Mode Records rapper S.O.’s recent project “These Things Take Time” is the song ‘Fall’, in which S.O. speaks on a plethora of matters including: Jahaziel, self examination, finances and his relationships with God. “People love when I just loop a beat and spit about a variety of topics…” S.O. said.
A soulful, bluesy guitar introduces S.O’s lyrical content and tone. Add an overlay of simple ambient drums, keys and vocal sample, and ‘Fall’s musical vibe becomes reminiscent of negro spirituals / vocal rhythms of the Staple singers.
Of Jahaziel’s exit from Christianity S.O. says:
“…You should pray for a brother, who’s strayed to the gutter…
…Cause when I heard, I ain’t go to Twitter /”
He then goes on the state:
“…I examined myself like I’m supposed to then I prayed to the Lord like keep me, Lord keep me… “
Throughout the track, snapshots of life lessons come through in his lyrics. S.O uses wordplay and a laid back flow to enunciate contrasts which his life experience and journeys have given him the wisdom to identify.
He speaks on the strange view many carry in the west in:
“…You can brag about the money and ice, man, I’m sure, But sometimes those who have less have more. And sometimes those who are blessed with pastures, ain’t got a lot of money but yet they have joy…”
And just about a month after releasing “These Things Take Time” EP, S.O. unexpectedly dropped another – “The B Sides” EP featuring previously unreleased ‘Elder Road’ and ‘Let It Out’ plus a remix of his hit single ‘Satisfy’.
