Komla Dumor remembered as a Great Man

Ghanaian BBC Reporter, Komla Dumor, quite sadly has passed away. It was reported that he died of cardiac arrest, on Saturday morning January 18th 2014, in London. The Ghanaian media have reported on this and his death was confirmed on both the social network, Facebook and even a popular blog page ‘Ghana’s Joy Online’.

I have seen the man a few times myself and I must say it is quite shock as the picture, which was taken a day before he died depicts how healthy and vibrant he looks. Statistics show that since the beginning of this month there would have been over 3.6 million deaths, yes, almost 2 people are dying every second. These are staggering figures and reminds us of the frailty of life.

Komla Dumor was the presenter of the BBC’s Focus on Africa Show, a dedicated daily TV news programme in English for African audiences and broadcast on BBC World News. He was one of the lead presenters for BBC World News’ European morning segment. Komla joined the BBC in 2007 after a decade of broadcast journalism in Ghana where he won the Ghana Journalist of the Year award.

I had watched him a few times myself and it’s upsetting as you could tell he had so much going for him. He was a big inspiration as a journalist to so many and even more so, to Africa. Komla was truly a professional and source of pride for the continent.

Rest in Perfect Peace Komla Dumor
