Fresh out of Nexus Institute of Creative Arts, the UK based indie rock band KISH are going international. Originally formed for a final “declaration in music” to conclude the front woman Anna’s time at Nexus, they decided to move forward and share that testimony with others. They are now setting out to share their music and testimonies around Europe with the vision to impact the lives of people struggling with mental health.
Many of us feel a need to belong somewhere and to have a purpose but feel unable to obtain it, and the results are starting to show. Suicide has become the biggest avoidable cause of death for those aged 15-29 in the UK and according to the Adult Psychiatric Morbidity Survey, 1 in 6 adults are having to deal with common mental disorders such as depression and anxiety. KISH believes that the best solution for these issues is to help people re-establish a connection with true identity & purpose, which they believe is found in Jesus. This is the message they aim to carry in their songs which themselves are often a testimony to this.
The name KISH, as well as being the middle name of Anna (the front woman), is drawn straight from two biblical characters, one belonging to a tribe of trained warriors and the other belonging to the tribe dedicated to worship. Reflecting this, KISH are also passionate about equipping local churches for deep, expressive worship. As such, they are partnering with a couple of churches along the tour to host masterclasses. These will cater for worship leaders, musicians and singers who want to develop their playing in worship or bring their skills from playing outside of church into a church context. With their training and education from Nexus-ICA and their experience playing at worship events worldwide, they are sure to bring something of value to anyone who shares their desire for genuine, heartfelt worship.
In anticipation of this step up in their ministry, KISH reached out to several other international artists who will now be joining them along the tour, contributing both to the performances and the masterclasses. Therefore they will be accompanied on the tour by Nora Bart from the Netherlands and will be joined at various points by the likes of: Friistyle Gahspol from the United States, JohnZebra from Switzerland and UK’s own Pyramid Park.
On their tour, they will be hitting Belgium, Switzerland and France before returning to the UK to round it off with their biggest show of the tour on home soil.
