Joy House London presents JET with Snatcha, Remi, Yinka & Niko B in ‘Reality’

Joy House London presents JET as they bring a dose of ‘Reality’ back with their version of the Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell 1968 original ‘Ain’t Nothing Like The Real Thing’. The fresh take on a classic features Snatcha (from Rooftop MCs), Remi Odumesi, Pastor Yinka and Niko B and is produced by Ibe Giantkiller.

JET is a collaborative effort by Joy House Evangelism alongside other artistes and ministers focused on sharing the straight Gospel message. The project also aims is to connect the church with the community and bring the good news of salvation through Jesus, to the world.

The song starts with a twinkle in the piano, leaving you guessing for a couple seconds, then BAM here’s the song! With great vocal harmonies from Praise and Worship Leader Remi Odumesi in the “ain’t nothing but the real thing” chorus blends well with the rap styles of the various guest rappers; Snatcha from the renowned Nigerian Hip Hop group Rooftop MCs and the sharp quick fire wittiness of Argentinian rapper Niko B adding a little Hispanic flavour. UK facilitator Pastor Yinka brings a contemplative prose like flow to round off the experience.

The international diversity and oneness found in ‘Reality’ backed up by strong lyrics and easy head-bopping hop hop flows, work very well with the rhythmical drums of Ibe Giankiller’s production. All these elements add overall to a very melodic and enjoyable refix of the classic.

Pastor Yinka explained how the project came about, “We had noticed a narrative that was expressed in society that easily influenced people. We also saw how often propaganda is used to manipulate society. It was within this backdrop an opportunity arose to do a project to express the real truth of Christ, help give opportunity to turn to Him and not be a pawn in ‘this game swaying’ society.”

He continued, “It was a pleasure to have accomplished ministers like Snatcha and Niko, bringing skilful, versatile flows and Remi Odumesi bringing strong yet soothing vocals to this project. The song turned out to be a unique presentation with a clear message of hope in Christ.”

In crediting the production of ‘Reality’ Pastor Yink said, “It was an honour to have the awesome producer Ibe Giantkiller produce the song. His knowledge and experience brought the emotion that we think helps hammer the message home whist being intensely musical at the same time.”
