If you haven’t already heard of DavidB or his songs including his latest release ‘Titi Lai Lai’, then this will be a great introduction. DavidB, an artist of Nigerian descent and a resident of Manchester, is a gifted R&B, Gospel and Afrobeat singer with vocal powers!
He is an experienced performer who has already taken to stages alongside Fred Hammond & Josh Groban. He’s played on stages such as The Big Church Day Out & GL Live X. He has also garnered praise from Tiwa Savage, having exemplified his vocals prowess in ‘Kele Kele’ an acapella re-arrangement rendition of her original song.
‘Titi Lai Lai’ is a beautifully made, lyrically honest song, on a bed of an afro-beat rhythm and carried by smooth vocals reminiscent of the 90’s r&b style. The song speaks to the affairs of the heart pertaining to both men and women, with lyrics such as, “I know you get scared, seems like forever doesn’t last so long these days, you have your fear…”
In another part of the song DavidB sings, “Let me make this clear Ive been scared of commitment and I’ve never been here before… I will cherish your heart I won’t lie to you…”
“Titi Lai Lai” is a Yoruba phrase meaning ‘Forever’ and the song, produced by Lagos based musician and producer – Mosa, talks of being there forever for the one you love.
This is beautifully illustrated in the scripting and performance of the music video, which carries on it’s storyline from a previous release ‘Iwo Nkan’.
It’s that song.
It’s a lovers song.
It’s the wedding song.
