Croydon rapper Mr Ekow makes Salute Music Makers Top 100

Croydon rapper, Mr Ekow has made it to the top 100 of Salute Music – a new national competition with a top prize of £50,000. While spending his days working for Croydon youth charity, Reaching Higher, at night he grabs a microphone and raps under the alias Mr Ekow (echo).

With the likes of Stormzy, Adele and many others, it’s no secret that there is a wealth of musical talent pouring out of Croydon. Could Mr Ekow be next to join the current crop?

Salute Music is a multi-genre competition giving independent artists the chance to take their music to the next level. It forgoes the dramatic karaoke antics of other music competitions and instead puts the focus on original DIY music. Roughly 2500 songs were entered into the competition and Mr Ekow was able to stand out with his introspective and poetic track, ‘If A Tree Falls‘.

When asked how it feels to make it to the top 100, Mr Ekow responded, “It’s an incredible feeling to know your music resonates with others. This is a life-changing opportunity and a great win for music makers and listeners alike.”

Voting is open to the public through a unique, interactive system on Facebook messenger. By simply searching “Salute Music UK” on the platform and chatting to the Salute bot, everyone is invited to be a judge and create a top 6 vote list. Voting ends on October 27th, so make sure to get involved and support Mr Ekow.
