The BET Award 2013 was a spectacular event hosted by comedian Chris Tucker where anything could happen! Best Gospel Artist was one of many categories on the night which included some top artists. The runner up nominees included singer, songwriter and producer Deitrick Haddon, Grammy-winning Lecrae, talented vocalist Tamela Mann and two-time BET Award winner Marvin Sapp.
The winner of the 2013 Awards was contemporary duo Mary Mary who have managed to keep their fans in the spirit for fifteen years. On the night nominee Tamela Mann blessed the crowd with her new song ‘Take Me To The King’ which is currently in the Gospel Charts (see video below).
It is amazing how the Gospel scene has grown over the years and pushed boundaries to be noticed outside Christian concentrated media. Let us pray that the UK will follow in the USA’s footsteps and continue to put Gospel music on the map.
