Amy Faith Morley shares the story behind New album “Comfort and Joy”

The last few months have been a rollercoaster of emotionally draining events that left me feeling broken and powerless. Josh and I were so excited as we went for our 12-week scan, but our joy was short-lived when we found out that there was no longer a heartbeat. We had to come to terms with the fact that we would soon be losing our second baby. To make matters worse, we were involved in a car crash the next night which happened to be the day before my birthday, only adding to the shock. The heaviness of the situation left me feeling overwhelmed. Though I tried to put on a brave face, inside I felt weighed down with grief which comes in unexpected waves even now.

In order to rekindle joy, we must learn to bravely face the darkness

and find a way to let the light in…

An important source of hope has been having a community of support around me. This includes our church community, close friends and family who have been there for us every step of the way, as well as other women who are also going through similar experiences. Having this sense of connection has helped me feel less alone in my struggles, and more empowered to keep seeking God and move forward, ‘choosing life’ moment by moment.

In this difficult time, my husband has been an incredible comfort and support to me. However, our most reliable trust and Comfort is found in Jesus; it is only through His boundless grace that we can make it through trying times. It has been all too tempting to dwell in isolation and darkness. But I am learning that to rekindle Joy, we must learn to bravely face the darkness and find a way to let the light in. Even though we live in a broken world here on earth, God is good; His plan is always life-giving. So, rather than allowing depression to consume me, I embraced the opportunity to create something beautiful and worshipful through these carols.

This album brings to life cherished carols like ‘The First Noel’ and ‘O Holy Night, inviting us into a space of worshipful adoration for Jesus. To bring a bit of festive cheer, I’ve included songs like ‘Joy to the World’ and the children’s nativity songs ‘It was on a Starry Night’ and also ‘Little Donkey’ taken from my 2020 advent YouTube series. One song that has particularly moved me during this season is ‘O Come Emmanuel.’ It encourages us to turn to God amid our struggles and pain, just as the Psalmist did, which stirs up a passionate desire to seek out God and trust Him for salvation, healing, and His very presence is what brings us lasting Comfort and Joy.

“Comfort and Joy,” is more than just a title – it’s who Jesus is to us. His presence on Earth was revolutionary and drastically changed the course of history. His arrival marked a significant turning point, as he embodied God’s promised Messiah and his extraordinary acts of divine love for all mankind. He can sympathize with our difficulties and sufferings since He experienced them himself as a human being. He didn’t just leave us in history either, He sent His Holy Sprirt, who we can access right now, today. As we celebrate His birth and remember all that he has done for us, may we find peace in knowing that Jesus is our Savior who brings lasting comfort, and joy to each one of us this Christmas, and always!

The album is now available for streaming and downloading on all digital platforms.
