We are just one day away from Benjamin “BeBe” Winans‘ 60th Birthday Celebration in London this 16th September. The six-times Grammy Award winner, multi-platinum selling artist and songwriter is already here in the UK to celebrate his special day in style, performing for one night only, with an incredible lineup of world class artists by his side. BeBe Winans was famously first introduced to British and global audiences when he wrote the hit single “I Wanna Be The Only One” recorded with homegrown R&B girl group Eternal, becoming the biggest hit of their career.
“A Night with BeBe & Friends” will be an unmissable experience for anyone who loves R&B, truly a once in a lifetime opportunity to witness a show unlike anything else, given its interstellar cast. BeBe has a history of celebrating his birthdays in grand style, holding concerts for his 45th and 50th in New York, with star studded casts, filled with popular and gospel singing legends as well as Hollywood A-listers. NEW! There is now the added opportunity for select audience members to obtain a VIP meet and greet bolt on with the artists on the night prior to the show.
BeBe will be joined by internationally renowned R&B and gospel artists, such as VaShawn Mitchell, another multiple Grammy, Dove and Stellar award winner. BeBe is from an exceptionally musically gifted family, with his talented sibling, the legendary Marvin L Winans also on the roster. Korean Soul, the vocal group that wowed international audiences with their harmonies in last year’s “America’s Got Talent” will also be performing for the first time ever in the UK. In fact it was BeBe Winans himself, who having seen a viral video of the gospel quartet, recognised their star quality and flew halfway across the world to record “Laughter Just Like A Medicine”, paving the way for their subsequent US success.
Another artist gracing the stage on the night is musical legend Karen Clark Sheard, whose story was turned into biographical screenplay “The Clark Sisters: The First Ladies of Gospel” (2020), charting the history of how Karen and her sisters rose from obscurity to become the highest selling gospel music group in history.
And we are not yet done celebrating! Donnie McClurkin, another Grammy award winning gospel artist known for his groundbreaking “Live in London” album, will also be performing. London Community Gospel Choir, with whom BeBe has a long-standing association, will join him on the night to perform a cover of Luther Vandross’ inspirational hit ‘Power of Love/Love Power’ almost thirty years after it was first performed at the Royal Albert Hall. Not one to be missed, the evening is truly set to provide an unparalleled musical experience with some of the world’s finest voices all under one roof.
BeBe, also of BeBe & CeCe fame, has attracted iconic performers to his previous birthday concerts such as Stevie Wonder, Glady Knight, Quincy Jones and Dionne Warwick to mention a few. Reaching the age of 60 is considered in some cultures as having completed a full life cycle, BeBe is set to celebrate his diamond birthday in style as he looks to the next chapter. This may very well be the biggest gospel celebration of recent times in the UK and you’re invited!
