The hurricane season of September 2017 has so far made landfall, hitting the Caribbean region with hurricanes Irma and Jose, spinning through the islands of Antigua & Barbuda, Dominica, St. Kitts & Nevis, British Virgin Islands, Anguilla, Tortola and St. Maarten with others affected by heavy rains.
The sister island of Barbuda was impacted this September 2017, obliterating approximately 90% the nation’s structures and vehicles. The Barbuda Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, describes the island as ‘barely habitable’ and called for a near-total evacuation of the island leaving more than 60% of Barbuda’s 1,600 residents homeless.
Pastor Peter Nembhard of ARC – A Radical Church (The ARC), events & tours organisers Audrey Gray of ArtisteHub with support from promotional partners, believe it would highly appropriate to host a benefit concert. Working with the UK Ascension Trust who have partnered with The High Commission of Antigua & Barbuda, donations will be part of their Rebuild Barbuda Appeal campaign.
“We have chosen to work with Ascension Trust as an organisation that moved swiftly to tackle the plight of the islanders of Barbuda. We pray that this will bring awareness to our Caribbean family and help to aid and rebuild, the lives and homes of those totally devastated by this hurricane season“.
Confirmed performers on the night include Noel Robinson, Jacy Mai, Emmanuel Smith-Tali, Anthony Hainsley, Ian Green, J Vessel and Lurine Cato with the host Ibe Giantkiller.
