It seems unbelievable that an American could be on the forefront of Russia’s worship and youth revival movement, considering what is in the news and current political climate with Russia. Here is the good news: Today’s evangelical Russian church is thriving and a generation that was reached with the gospel in the 1990s are now leaders of a revival that is sweeping Eastern Europe.
Philip Renner, American missionary, worship leader, speaker, revivalist, award-winning recording artist and songwriter is at the forefront of this revival and leads Renner Worship and Renner Worship Music. With offices in Nashville, TN, Tulsa, OK and Moscow, Russia, Phillip is part of a thriving missions and music ministry in former U.S.S.R and now U.S.
Renner Worship’s new project “Anthology: Songs for Revival” and anthem “We Cry Out” was birthed out of this worship mission’s calling of revival. Philip is the first national Russian language touring worship artist, teaching youth and churches how to create their own original worship in their church and city with a foundation of fasting and prayer. It is a unique calling for an American to be considered the ‘father of the modern worship movement in Russia and neighboring countries’.
The seeds of this worship movement started 25 years ago, when Philip age 6 and the Renner family which includes his father and mother, Rick and Denise, brothers Paul and Joel, answered the call to missions during a very perilous time in former U.S.S.R. The family moved from Tulsa, Oklahoma to Russia where they planted Moscow Good News Church, now a thriving congregation of 4000 in the heart of Moscow.
Philip served for over 7 years as youth pastor for the church with his father, acclaimed Greek teacher, lead Pastor, and author, Rick Renner (Sparkling Gems 1 and 2, Dressed to Kill, 700 Club, Joyce Meyer.)
Philip started his music career as a songwriter for EuroVison and MTV pop and rock stars. During this time, Philip was offered a major recording contract but felt a call to launch his ministry full time in 2013, to lead and teach worship, prayer and fasting. This resulted in hundreds of bookings, camps, conferences, festivals and tours of Armenia, Belarus, Cypress, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Russia, and the United States from 2014 to present with Philip averaging over 70,000 miles traveling.
Philip Renner will make his national TV debut on TBN’s Praise The Lord appearing with host Jason Crabb, to share his music and missions story. Air date is set for November 18th in US (check your local listing). Renner Worship released their first US single in earlier on in July to Hot AC, CHR, Worship radio with “We Cry Out” (Take Me To Your Mountain) as a revival cry for the world.
Renner Worship had a successful tour of Russia, returning to US to record and do select dates in Nashville, Tulsa, Dallas and NY the last of which is November 16th at the Eagle Mountain Church, Dallas, TX.
