This Christmas Manchester Inspirational Voices (MIV) are putting on a spectacular gospel concert at the prestigious Bridgewater Hall in Manchester on Wednesday, 13th December 2017. The award-winning northerners are a 60-strong community choir directed by Wayne Ellington.
They wil be joined by friends Rob Rinder, of Judge Rinder and Strictly Come Dancing fame, and Michelle John, finalist in The Voice 2017. Manchester Inspirational Voices are the winners of BBC1’s Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year Competition 2016, the final having being aired on BBC1 on 30 October and 6 November 2016. It was filmed at the Hackney Empire in front of a packed house. The Judges commended the choir for its ‘wow’ factor. The success led to two live performances on North West Tonight as well as a feature on Granada Reports. Members of the choir sang backing vocals on ITV’s Choirs at Christmas broadcast on ITV1 at midnight on Christmas Eve.
The choir has featured on Songs of Praise twice in 2017 and was a central part of the Manchester Passion performed in the City Centre on 8 April. Over 40 members of the choir performed a series of concerts in Poland this Summer, and we are taking part in the Novara Gospel Festival in Italy this autumn. In 2016 the choir performed in New York and Germany, on stage with Leona Lewis at the Bridgewater Hall and it provided backing vocals for JP Cooper, a rising recording artist with two top ten hits, who is a former member of the choir.
Rob Rinder is a fan of the choir and will add some fun and star quality to the evening as well as singing with them! The concert will be a true celebration of Christmas for the whole of Manchester. MIV will be joined by a school choir as well as their special guests. Get tickets here.
