London’s biggest African Musical of 2017: Ajegunle
October 13 @ 18:30 - October 14 @ 22:30£20
For two electrifying days in October, Zera Productions brings to the London stage the African Musical, ‘Ajegunle’ taking place at the Stratford Circus Arts Centre. Set to revolutionise African Stage Drama, Ajegunle is a story about the battle for love, pride of a country and fighting against adversity in the hope of something better.
Ajegunle, a district of Lagos, Nigeria tells the story of the upcoming Local Government Chairman elections and the struggle for leadership between the present Chairman and a young, hopeful duo Vic and Gabs, who are looking to make Ajegunle a better place.
The sitting Chairman, who has designs on extending his political career in Nigeria, has been informed by the Party Leaders that they doubt his resilience, and as such will be using the upcoming elections to gauge his ‘mettle and steel’. However, the Chairman’s attempts to impress lead to devastating results as he resolves to crush anyone standing in the way of his quest for a second term in office.
Zera presents an exhilarating and pulsating stage production with music from leading contemporary artistes in Nigeria written, directed and produced by Gbadero Lahanmi with the vision to tell untold stories in magnificent ways, having worked tirelessly to create insightful, comical and unforgettable productions.
Zera Productions is an established theatre and film production company based in London. Since its inception in 2010, Zera’s first stage production, ‘One Last Cry’ was held at St. George’s Theatre and has since paved the way for many other successful plays such as 42 Weeks, Nana and Daddy’s Girls. The production ‘Nana’ received particular praise and accolade for raising awareness of human trafficking to an audience of over eight hundred people. This was achieved through partnership with organisations such as the London Metropolitan Police, House on the Rock, and the Anti-Slavery Foundation.
With just eight years in the game, Zera has produced thought-provoking and entertaining productions, and with each new play the producer demonstrates the uncanny ability to encourage, inspire and entertain his audience all in one sitting.
Zera’s vision is to stage further extraordinary cinematic productions in London and various cities all over the world.
