Recently, Last Days Fam (a South African Hip Hop Group) dropped their 3rd Studio Album entitled “Dissent” in Midrand, South Africa. The Hip Hop group has 3 members: Thekza “Landmarq”; Tshepo “Bonafide” Arch-kid; and Thapelo “Baggz” Mpai and they collectively believe that there is an undeniable need for Hip Hop music that is real, objective, unfeigned and purposeful.
I was really delighted and honored to attend the launch, which took place at the Plantation Café in the form of a listening party. Before the event officially started, we got a great surprise visit and performance from Propaganda who was in South Africa, on tour.
Last Days Fam (LDF) were nominated for Best Rap Album at SAMA19; they won Best Gospel Hip Hop at the SABC Crown Awards in 2012; & and also won Best Group @ MTN Hype Music Awards in 2009. This year they performed at one of South Africa’s (and also one of Africa’s) biggest Hip Hop festivals – “Back To The City Festival”, which takes place every year in Johannesburg, South Africa.
LDF had last dropped an album “Eternal Effect” 4 years ago, so a lot of people couldn’t wait for “Dissent” to drop. On this note, their previous album was jam packed, as it consisted of 42 tracks (2 discs) – You can listen or purchase the tracks on iTunes. Dissent has 19 great tracks that are definitely worth listening to, and the beautiful intro does justice in preparing you for the following tracks. You can purchase and listen to the album on iTunes / Google Play.
For those who are based in South Africa, you can order a copy of the album by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org (They deliver nationally, and you can also order and LDF T-shirt). #LDF #ChangeMusic
