Since signing with American Indie label, Residence Music, Joshua Luke Smith appears unstoppable releasing track after track, each packing a powerful punch. ‘Headlights’, the previous single, has now been streamed over 80,000 times and been added to some big playlists including Chilled Pop Hits and Alternative Hip Hop.
‘Jack of Spades 2.0’ Smith’s latest offering ahead of an EP planned for release mid-February, literally sees him undergoing rigorous boxing training and packing a few punches of his own in a bar brawl where he’s jumped after being seduced by a beautiful young woman.
The hard-hitting video filmed by James Green (Of Dust and Stars) and Dominic Doring, sees Smith undergo a severe beating but emerge standing at the end to face head-on his fear/temptation/struggle.
Smith says, ‘I wrote this poem as a call to stand against the thoughts that lead to our demise. Too many times I’ve been seduced by jealousy, fear, lust, comparison and anger, following them instead of standing firm. That road leads nowhere.’
His new EP, “Dead Man”, is planned for release on 16th February and he will be embarking on a UK and European tour with Sofar Sounds next month with a U.S tour planned for the Spring. 2018 looks set to be a big year for Joshua Luke Smith.
